The Center for Coalfield Justice

The Center for Coalfield Justice works with residents in Washington and Greene Counties to build a healthy future for the places that they call home. Southwestern Pennsylvania presently has an extraordinary array of extractive and heavily polluting industries.  The region is home to the largest producing underground coal mine in North America, as well as over three thousand fracked gas drilling and midstream operations. Members of the CCJ work to take power back from these damaging industries and to put an end to the control that they wield over their local economies and environments.  To learn more and join their work, visit
